Friends and teachers of a 15-year-old Derby boy who collapsed and died suddenly have paid tribute to the pal they knew as "Pip".
Connor Parsons was taken ill on Wednesday morning and collapsed on his way to the doctor with his mother Fay.
Despite her attempts to revive him, Connor was pronounced dead on arrival at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.
Connor's death has shocked fellow pupils and staff at da Vinci Community College, in Breadsall Hilltop, where he was in year 10.
As a mark of respect, a presentation evening planned for Wednesday night was postponed after police called at the school to give the news.
Head teacher Rob Martlew said that Connor's death had left everyone numb.
He said: "We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Connor's family and friends.
"Connor was a very popular and thoroughly likeable young man who had a bright future ahead of him.
"Everyone at school is finding it very difficult to come to terms with this tragedy.
"Connor was a good sportsman, a good role model acting as a peer mentor to younger pupils and a good friend. He will be deeply missed by all."
Staff were briefed about the tragedy yesterday morning and a series of special assemblies were held for pupils.
A room in the St Andrew's View school was also set aside for quiet reflection.
Connor's friends - Joe Smith, Adam Friel, Jake Heenan, Danny Burton, Shayne Alton, Lee Powell, Andy Gallacher and Adam Thornley, all aged 15 - wrote a tribute to their friend, whom they called Pip.
They wrote: "You were a true friend, you were like a brother to us. You made us smile inside and laugh out loud. You were one in a million.
"You cared about others and will never know how much we cared about you. You were our loyal mate, a nice person to have around.
"It is so sad to know we will never see you again, but you are always in our hearts and the good memories will never die. You'll always be with us. Rest in peace, we'll never forget you."
Mr Martlew said that, at an appropriate time, the school would consider creating a permanent memorial to Connor.
Connor's family, who live in St Andrew's View, are waiting to find out the cause of his death, while floral tributes continue to be left at the spot where he collapsed in Perth Street.
